Types Of Led Strip Lights

Are you interested in knowing the types of led strip lights? If yes, then you have reached the right place. There are many types of LED strip lights. Here are some common ones that we are going to tell you about.

What are LED strip lights?

LED strip lights are made of a strip of LEDs that are put together to form long, flexible lights. These lights are very efficient in using power because LEDs use less electricity than fluorescent or incandescent lights. They are also durable, visually appealing, and allow for many different configurations. You can use them in cars, in shops, in residential houses, and in many other places where you need a light source.

LED strip lights are actually flexible strips of tiny LED bulbs that are joined together in series. The strip lights are used for decorative and functional purposes in offices, homes, cars, and for many other applications. These strip lights are highly visible and show many different colors. The main advantage of using LED strip lights is that their power consumption is very less. The lights last for a very long time and the only maintenance required is to replace the worn-out strips. The pictures below show how the LED strip lights work.

Types of led strip lights

There are many types of LED lights, from standard low voltage lights to retrofit kits, decorative lights, and wheel lights. The most common type would be the one that is used to light up a home or a building. The strips are usually installed on the walls and ceilings. One of the most recent innovations in LED lights is the ability to put it in the wheel rim. The LED wheel lights can be seen on many cars’ wheels. Although it may not be of much use, it is very attractive to look at.

There are three different types of led strip lights.

  • Addressable LEDs
  • Flexible Strip Lights
  • Self-adhesive Strip Lights

1) Addressable LEDs

Addressable LEDs are a technology that allows illumination of a single LED or multiple LEDs strings to be controlled individually or simultaneously. The LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) are individually addressable using a protocol that allows for the user to set the color and brightness of the LEDs. This is a great technology for modern designers and architects who can use it in a variety of different ways to achieve the desired lighting effect.

Addressable LEDs

What can you do with addressable LEDs?

Addressable LEDs are used mostly in RGB LEDs, which are the most widely used. It provides the user with the flexibility to change the color of the LEDs without any physical changes in the hardware. These LEDs are used to provide visual feedback in electronic equipment, as well as to represent numbers, characters, and eye-catching colors on signs and displays.

Addressable LEDs, also known as smart LEDs, have become increasingly popular in recent years. What makes them special is the fact that they are individually controllable. In fact, you can even change the color of each individual LED, or an entire string of LEDs, using a microcontroller and a special-purpose code. Are you looking for ways to add some lighting effects to your next project? If so, addressable LEDs make a good choice. They are relatively inexpensive, and you can easily control them using an Arduino or other microcontroller.

How do you use addressable LED strips?

An addressable LED strip is an LED strip that is controlled by a microcontroller. There are two main ways to control LED strips, using serial or digital communication. These LED strips will generally have some sort of protocol for either serial or digital communication. The simplest way to control one of these strips is with a microcontroller and some software.  You can use the Serial commands to send numbers to the LED strip and it will set the LEDs to those numbers.

2) Flexible Strip Lights

Flexible LED strips are known to be flexible because they have strong insulating properties which prevent the circuits from interfering with each other and they can be bent, twisted, or even stretched without breaking. This is why the cables can be bent so much without the danger of overheating. The brightness of the LEDs can be adjusted by simply changing the voltage, which is done with the help of remote control. The lights are perfect for illuminating indoors, but they can also be used outdoors, although they are not suitable for cold climates.

Flexible LED strips are used to light up the narrow places. They are flexible and easy to install. They are designed with a special technique to hold the strip at any angle. They are also backed by a 3M tape to be fixed firm on any surface. They are light in weight and have energy efficient.

Flexible Strip Lights

How do you use flexible LED strip lights?

Flexible LED strip lights are very popular for decorating or illuminating displays. Flexible strip lights are used as under-cabinet lighting, in closets, under rugs, and for numerous other uses. One of the most popular places where flexible LED strip lights are put into use is in the automobile.

Flexible LED strip lights can be used for decorating purposes, as well as for lighting in dark corners or for highlighting objects. They are extremely easy to install and are extremely cost-effective. The main advantage of the flexible LED strip light is that you can use them in places where regular fittings like spotlights and downlights cannot be used.

Traditional lights can be used in ceilings and walls. But the flexibility of the strips allows them to be used anywhere and in any way. You can also use them to illuminate different objects or features in your home. They are extremely easy to install, as they can be stuck to the walls, or even the underside of cabinets, using 3M hooks. It is recommended that you install the lights without cutting them in order to maintain their flexibility. But if you want to cut them, cut them only once. You can also cut them using a metal cutter so that they will not be permanently damaged.

3) Self-adhesive Strip Lights

Self-adhesive strip lights are LED lights with adhesive back and they can be removed easily by tearing the strips. If a room has a limited amount of electrical outlets, you will find self-adhesive strip lights to be useful. These lights can be stapled to a wall or ceiling, and are designed to fit in corners and along the edges of rooms. These lights have a wide range of uses since they are so versatile and easy to install. These strips are completely waterproof and can be placed indoor or outdoor. They are also safe for children and pets, which makes them perfect for bedrooms, playrooms, kitchens, and family rooms.

Self-adhesive strip lights are the ones that are just stuck on the surface and removable. You can put them on the furniture, ceiling or wall, the place you want to make a highlight.

Self-adhesive Strip Lights

How do you install self-adhesive LED lights?

It is easy to install self-adhesive LED lights. You just have to follow a few steps:

  • First, remove the cover and turn off the light circuit at the breaker to avoid shock.
  • Second, select a location. You need to install the LED light strip as close to the center of the ceiling as possible.
  • Third, peel off the backing paper on the adhesive tape and stick the LED bulb to the ceiling.

How do you remove self-adhesive LED lights?

Self-adhesive LED lights generally come with a backing paper that is sticky on both sides, so in order to remove them, you have to carefully get under the edges.  Work slowly, and try pulling the backing off in one smooth continuous motion.  If it becomes necessary to reposition the LED on the backing, hold each LED individually and work from one LED to the next.

This should allow you to carefully unstick the backing and move it to a new position. If the item is still stuck, then you may need to carefully apply a small amount of acetone to the self-adhesive.  Acetone will help dissolve some of the glue, which should allow you to then remove the LED in one smooth motion.  Be careful when doing this, as too much acetone on the LED can damage its electronics.

How long do LED strip lights adhesive last?

The adhesive is a strong double-sided tape that is applied to both the back of the strip light and the surface you wish to adhere it to. Unlike double-sided tape, Luminous Adhesive is made to bond with the plastic housing of a strip light fixture. With average use and proper installation, this product should last up to five years when installed in your vehicle.

Types of Lighting Dimmers:

Different LED lighting dimmers fall under two categories of lighting. Under these categories, we will discuss different types of lighting dimmers. They are:

Single-type light

The lighting dimmer that has only one light as its focus is a light dimmer. Generally, single flashlight light dimmers are known as solitary lighting devices. Single spotlight light dimmers are called solo lighting displays since there is only one type of light to concentrate on for the dimmer. Normally, laser, sunlight, and even daylight dimmers are found in single spotlight lighting dimmers. Additionally, these are called monochromatic lighting dimmers.

Multi-type light

Light dimmers that have a combination of multiple light dimmers are called multi-type lighting devices. An example of this lighting device is split light. One spotlight light and several others are installed in one lighting device. Examples of split lightning dimmers are found in car
